Write Your Way In Spring Retreat at Shawnigan Lake

May 29-30, 2020

SPRING WRITES

This retreat offers the opportunity to relax into your authentic voice, stretch those writing muscles, and focus on the story you want to tell. In whatever form you want to tell it—poetry, fiction, memoir or essay. All in a safe and nurturing eco-space.
Whether you are reviving a dream of writing or well-established in your practice; an old pro or a nervous beginner, this retreat is certain to inspire and motivate you to explore, take risks, and listen deeply.
The weekend program includes sensory exercises and meditation to heighten awareness and deepen your experience.

Guided writing exercises are facilitated by Deepam with the Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA) method.

Friday 7 pm

After introductions and guidelines I’ll offer a series of on-the-spot timed writing exercises to get the creative writer in you feeling more relaxed, focused and a little experimental.

Participants are invited to read a piece of their writing to receive supportive feedback.

Saturday

After a morning walk meditation we’ll settle into a day of guided writing, focussing on elements of craft to hone and deepen your practice.

After lunch you’ll have the afternoon to work on a longer piece–either from an offered prompt or on a project of your own.

We conclude with readings from participants’ selected passages.

The program ends by 5 pm on Saturday.

Facilitation Cost: $125.00 per person

Meals and accommodation booked separately.
